Moody fall wedding at Kurtz Orchards
It was clear the week before this fall wedding at Kurtz Orchards that the weather was not looking all that favourable or cooperative. You never know with a fall wedding, they can be bright warm and sunny, or incredibly damp and cold. I had a call with Ashley and Amanda from Amanda Cowley events, and we discussed the options to make the day go as smoothly as possible, and to get Ashley all the photos she wanted the most. Many thanks to Robert my second shooter that day as well. I try to be as understanding and sympathetic as possible with my couples, I know how disappointing it can be when things get derailed at the last minute.
We watched the radar religiously all week, and we worked with the gaps in the clouds, although there was some pressure to move the ceremony into the tent, we all forged ahead with the plan to hold the ceremony under the large oak tree. The ground was a bit soggy, but nothing we couldn’t handle, and Ashley’s dress got a little muddy, but overall, it was a perfect day and we got some beautiful portraits anyway. We got a bit of blue sky in the middle of the day as well when we made it over to the vineyards and tent for cocktail hour.
It was so nice to work with Ashley and Cal, I have shot the weddings of several of her bridesmaids over the years, they are such a lovely group of women, and so many of them have little ones now too. I love to see couples grow up and become parents, being married does change the dynamic between you, even if it’s subtle. I’m always happy to be back at Gracewood, every season holds its own beauty, even the fall weddings at Kurtz Orchards have been so different from one another.
